Brother charged in St. Thomas homicide
The St. Thomas Police Service has deemed a suspicious death a homicide.
On Thursday evening at 7:20, 59-year-old Michael Mitchell, the accused in the case, went to London Police Headquarters and asked for a well-being check on his brother.
Police said he did so after an incident took place between them. The St. Thomas police were notified and went to the address on Highview Drive.
Multiple residents of the complex told CTV News officers arrived around 8 p.m. One of them was Cody Campbell. He said he was doing dishes as at least four cruisers pulled in.
“Just a heavy police presence, that's all," said Campbell.
"So, I figured maybe there's maybe a fight or scuffle between somebody, but I don’t know.”
Neighbours stated police were going in and out of Unit 15.
Friday morning, a lone police vehicle was parked in front of that unit, while police tape surrounded a gate entrance to the back.

Off camera, several residents stated they knew of an older male who lived in the townhouse.
Officers said in a news release that 60-year-old Jeffrey Mitchell was found dead in his home.
“I know the guy and talked football with him, so that's sad to hear,” said Campbell, when learning of the death.
No residents CTV News spoke with indicated they heard any noise before the arrival of police.
Michael Mitchell was arrested and taken to the St. Thomas Police Headquarters. He now faces a charge of second-degree murder.
Police remain on scene at the home on Highview Drive in St. Thomas. There is no risk to public safety.
