A little boy from midwestern Ontario with a big dream has become something of a YouTube sensation.

Brandon Ducharme's battle with leukemia led to a music video that is inspiring others to stay strong and remain hopeful.

As he rocks out to Tom Petty's 'Won't Back Down',' his family says it's music with a message they wanted to share.

Brandon's mom, Gail Ducharme says it's "Something just to kind of to give you inspiration and to make you think 'If they can do it, we can do it.'"

Once the seed for the video was planted, people quickly came on board, including Brandon's schoolmates in Zurich, local music and video producers, as well the staff at Children's Hospital.

"Everyone was so enthusiastic and nothing was too much to ask. It was unbelievable," Gail adds.

And Gail says Brandon was a natural, "He was practicing it for a little bit beforehand and our three-year-old daughter can even rock out to that song."

The video has been viewed more than 14,000 times on YouTube.

As for Tom Petty, he happily gave permission to use the song even giving a shout out to Brandon on his Facebook page.

"His business manager sent us an email right at the very beginning saying how much they enjoyed it and how brave they thought Brandon was," Gail says.

Seven-year-old Brandon is through with chemotherapy now, just returning to the hospital for periodic checkups.

"He's cancer-free now. So it's pretty exciting."

And his video has touched many people, "We've had everything from business professionals to other families fighting cancer contact us out of the blue and say 'Thank you so much for making this. This is just incredible. This gives us the motivation to fight in all different areas of life.'"

Brandon summed it up best at a party to marke the end of his treatment - which raised some $20,000 for Children's Hospital and childhood cancer

"Some people think that cancer is scary. But I know it can make you stronger. I know it can bring out the best in our communities, our families and our friends because I have seen it happen."
