ELORA, Ont. - A 15-year-old boy from Elora, Ont. is missing after he went tubing on the Grand River with two friends in fast flowing and turbulent waters.

Police received a call about three 15-year-olds tubing in the area northwest of Guelph at about 9 p.m. Wednesday and began a search for them.

All three boys were separated from their tubes due to the turbulent waters and only two are known to have made it to the shore safely.

Police officers with the help of a canine unit, fire services and other emergency workers conducted an on-ground shoreline search on Wednesday night, but were unable to locate the missing boy.

The search was suspended due to safety concerns and continued Thursday with the help of an underwater search and recovery unit and aviation services.
