Chatham-Kent police have arrested a Bothwell man for impaired driving after he was allegedly seen driving a golf cart with a beer in his hand.

An officer on general patrol in Bothwell saw the man around 9:40 p.m. Police say he was driving a golf cart on Elm Street with a bottle of beer in his hand and a cooler on the back of the cart

The officer initiated a traffic stop and saw the man throw the bottle of beer on the ground. It was believed that the driver was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. He was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

Lawrence McMaster, 54, has been charged with having a blood alcohol limit exceeding the legal limit. He has been released pending a future court date.

The golf cart was impounded for seven days.
