Changes in the drilling of a gas well without approval has led to a $6,000 fine for Bothwell-based Den-Mar Brines Limited.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the company failed to notify them in writing of changes to the well's drilling program.

The company had a licence to drill a natural gas well in Lambton County, but deviated from the well's drilling program, the court heard.

The Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act requires that companies follow an approved drilling program and notify the ministry of any changes.

As a result, the company has been fined $6,000.
