Lambton County OPP say a woman’s body has been found outside of Sarnia, but it’s unclear if it is that of 27-year-old Noelle Paquette, who has been missing since leaving a New Year’s Eve party.
Paquette was last seen walking southbound on Christina Street near Lochiel Street in downtown Sarnia.
She is described as 5’1” tall with a slim build and blonde hair. She was wearing a white Columbia jacket, black leather high-heeled boots, black pants and a shiny black top at the time of her disappearance.
Hundreds of volunteers gathered on Wednesday morning at a Sarnia Police Service command centre on Vidal Street to search the area.
Meanwhile, Lambton County OPP found the body of a woman in a woodlot on Mandaumin Road between Petrolia Line and Rokeby Line around 10:30 a.m.
Police will not confirm if the discovery of the body southeast of Sarnia is connected to Paquette’s disappearance. The woodlot is about 20 kilometres from where Paquette was last seen.
Mandaumin Road is expected to remain closed through Thursday as provincial police continue their investigation.
Sarnia police investigators say they will be meeting with the OPP to “exchange information in relation to the disappearance of Noelle Paquette and today’s discovery of a woman’s body.”
More information is expected to be released after a post mortem is conducted on the body.
