CTV News has learned that a body has been found following a massive search of the wooded area around Parkwood Hospital on Thursday.

London police, a K9 unit, an OPP helicopter, the London Fire Department's marine unit and volunteers had been in the area much of the day.

Earlier this week, officials asked for help to locate 68-year-old Frederick Sutherland of Wallaceburg, who walked out of London's Victoria Hospital around 1 a.m. Monday.

He had been in hospital for cancer treatment and had not been discharged. He left the hospital alone, prompting concerns for his family and police.

Police have not confirmed that the body, which was found on the grounds of the London Health Sciences Centre, is that of Sutherland, but the search has been called off.

More details are expected to be released by police once next of kin are notified.

The investigation continues, but police say "there is no indication of foul play at this time."
