For many Londoners it was the final chance to see the iconic Canadian band The Tragically Hip play live.

It was no regular concert that fans attended as it would be the band’s last in London as they wrap up a farewell tour.

The Tragically Hip are on the final leg of their cross-Canada tour which was announced following the news that frontman Gord Downe is battling terminal brain cancer.

“It’s kind of cool to go through life with Gordy, and now for it to end…it’s bittersweet I guess,” said fan Dennis Parker in London Monday night.

Fans of all ages lined up from as early as noon to get their hands on any official merchandise.

Scalpers were charging $250 for standing room tickets and more than $1,000 for floor seats an hour before the show.

The Hip’s tour will come to an end in their hometown of Kingston on August 20th.

That show will be live streamed by the CBC with plans for it to be broadcast in Victoria Park. So there’s still a chance to see them one last time.
