Provincial police say a small bear has been killed after being struck by a vehicle north of Strathroy early Friday morning.

The collision occurred just after 12 a.m. on Egremont Drive. An SUV was westbound when it struck the bear which was on the roadway.

Police say the female driver was not injured, but damage to her vehicle was significant.

The collision comes just one day after a Black Bear was apparently sighted in Kilworth.

Other bear sightings have been reported in Wallaceburg and Lambton Shores.

Though rare, Black Bears have been known to reach this far south.
