Sarnia police say a 30-year-old man faces several charges after allegedly striking another man in the head with a baseball bat.

According to police, officers were called regarding a confrontation at a home in the 6000 block of Waterworks Road on December 14 around 7 a.m.

Officers were informed that a 43-year-old Warwick man attended that residence to deliver an item to a 30-year-old Bright’s Grove man, when a confrontation took place.

Police say the 30-year-old allegedly threatened the 43-year-old and his family. A baseball bat was produced by the accused, who officer say then struck the victim two to three times in the head. At this point, police says the victim fled in his car and called 911 on his way home.

OPP attended the victim’s home and saw the injuries to his head. Police say a short time later, the accused was observed driving by the victim’s home, where he was stopped by officers and arrested.

Police say a search of the man's car led to the discovery of an unloaded rifle, ammunition and a knife in a sheath.

The man faces six charges including assault with a weapon, utters to cause death, possession of a weapon and criminal harassment.
