Price of gas, diesel jumps in P.E.I. after unscheduled adjustment

There was a significant increase and an unscheduled price adjustment at the pumps in Prince Edward Island overnight.

The price of gas and diesel jumped significantly overnight in P.E.I. following an unscheduled adjustment.

Gas prices increased by 5.1 cents to a new minimum price of 175.0 cents per litre.

The price of diesel increased by 10.4 cents, bringing the minimum price to 203.7 cents per litre.

“Pricing adjustments outside of the scheduled weekly adjustment, otherwise known as interruptions, are sometimes required respond to changing market conditions and ensure that petroleum prices are fair for consumers and wholesalers/retailers,” reads a news release from the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.

An interrupter clause for the price of diesel was also invoked in Nova Scotia on Wednesday. Prices increased by 5.8 cents to a new minimum price of 192.9 cents per litre.

Diesel and gas prices have not changed this week in New Brunswick.

The next scheduled adjustment for all three Maritime provinces is Friday.
