Second aircraft emergency in a week at Halifax Stanfield International Airport

Emergency responders were dispatched to the Halifax Stanfield International Airport in response to an aircraft emergency at approximately 1:30 p.m. Saturday, said a Facebook post on the Nova Scotia Fire/Emergency/Info page.

An inbound aircraft reported cabin pressure issues and triggered the emergency response said the post. Airport Fire, Enfield Fire, HRFE Station 09 (Sackville), HRFE Station 41 (Waverley), HRFE Station 47 (Goffs), HRFE Station 45 (Fall River), HRFE Station 08 (Bedford), Emergency Health Services, and police services were all dispatched to the scene.

The aircraft landed safely and emergency crews were advised to stand down, said the post.

This is the second aircraft emergency at the Halifax airport in a week.

On Dec. 28 an airplane with a suspected landing gear issue caused a fire on the runway at Stanfield. The Nova Scotia RCMP said only minor injuries were reported, but the incident rattled passengers and caused flight delays.

CTV has contacted emergency services but no further information about the incident is available at this time.
