Woodstock police have charged a 26-year-old man with arson in connection with a fire earlier this month.

Kyle Foster is charged with 'arson - cause property damage' after the blaze at 1268 Dundas St. that caused an estimated $180,000 in damage.

Police say Foster was a former tenant at the home.

Fire crews, police and EMS responded to a fire at the residence around 11 p.m. on Dec. 16 and found smoke billowing from the roof and flames at the back of the house.

Firefighters checked the home and confirmed there no occupants inside, they then remained on scene for several hours to extinguish the fire.

Foster is scheduled to appear in court in January.
