London police have made an arrest after a man went to a local hospital with a gunshot wound early Wednesday.

The 18-year-old Mississauga man went to the London Health Sciences Centre's Victoria Hospital for treatment around 2:20 a.m. and police were called.

Following an investigation, police say the shooting happened at the Holiday Inn and Suites at 855 Wellington Rd. around 2 a.m.

Officers identified a suspect and tracked him to a Woodstock address, which police searched around 3:30 a.m. on Friday.

As a result, Deion Cuvilie, 18, of Brampton, was arrested, and items including a handgun, ammunition, crack cocaine and cash were seized.

Cuvilie is facing charges of careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition and possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Investigators say the suspect and victim are known to each other, but the circumstances arouund the shooting are still under investigation.

London police are thanking the Woodstock Police Service for their collaboration in the investigaiton.

The injured man was released from hospital on Thursday.
