An eco-passage will benefit from the annual Fall Classic at Pinery Park on Sunday.

The event, which is a run over distances of two, five or 10 kilometres, a five-kilometre wheelchair event, trail run or a 200 metre fawn run for the tiny athletes, is organized by the Friends of Pinery Park.

The eco-passage is a tunnel under the road through which small animals, including turtles and snakes, can pass safely.

“The Fall Classic is a day out in beautiful Pinery Park,” says Lori Szwarz, who is chair of the event.

“It’s an event for everyone from serious runners to families who just want to enjoy health benefits of walking and the beauty of the fall colors. And it supports the Park, which is home to one of the rarest ecosystems on earth.”

Registration fees range from $25 to $40 and there is a special rate for families.

There are cash prizes for overall winners and medals for age division winners.
