Wading pools that had remained closed due to a shortage of lifeguards are set to open for the summer next week.

It's good news for those looking to cool off in the summer heat.

The City of London says it has hired additional lifeguards over the last few days, despite a shortage faced by many Canadian communities.

The Meredith, McMahen and University Heights wading pools will open Monday and the Murray location will open on Tuesday.

The Smith and Byron wading pools will open as soon as possible and updates can be found at: london.ca/aquatics
