Windsor Councillors voted Monday to support a joint bid with London to try and bring the 2019 World Junior Hockey Championships to southwestern Ontario.

If the bid is successful Windsor would be on the hook for $400,000 in hosting fees.

Organizers say the tournament would provide roughly $25-million in economic impact for the host cities.

Applicants have until August 31 to submit their proposal before Hockey Canada chooses a host.

That will be announced sometime before December of 2016.
