Volunteers are desperately needed for the London Salvation Army's Kettle Campaign.

According to a news release, 25 per cent of kettle shifts are vacant between now and Christmas Eve.

This year's goal is to reach $500,000.

Money donated to the Kettle Campaign goes to the Christmas hamper program, providing food and toys for local families in need.

The Salvation Army estimates 5800 households will require a hamper this Christmas.
