London could become home to Ontario's first urban native reserve, according to a report in The Toronto Star.

The report says the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation is looking to buy up land in London using money from a recently inked $119-million land claim settlement.

Chief Joe Miskokomon says the band is looking to puchase up to 720 acres of land to add to its existing reserve. The land includes parcels of prime real estate near Hwy. 401 and in several municipalities, including London, to develop into revenue generating businesses for the band.

CTV News will have more on the band's plans tonight at 6.
