A corrections officer was allegedly assaulted Saturday night at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre.
A Tweet Sunday from OPSEU Local 108 says a corrections officer was punched in the head and bitten multiple times.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services says is would not be appropriate to comment as "serious matters such as inmate or staff assaults are reported to the ministry by the correctional facility."
The spokesperson also said, "The safety and security of staff and inmates at Ontario correctional facilities is a top priority for the ministry."
A source also tells CTV News that there have also been other assaults at EMDC in recent days.
