Fire officials say an overnight fire at a vacant home on Trafalgar Street caused extensive damage and is considered suspicious.

Fire crews responded to a fire at a home in the area of Trafalgar east of Clarke Road around 11:10 p.m. Thursday.

The fire took some time to put out and officials say the home will be a write off.

An early estimate has the damage set at $175,000.

One firefighter suffered a cut hand while battling the blaze, no one else was injured.

London police are treating the fire as suspicious, with the auto arson unit looking into it along with a vehicle fire that occurred in the same area around the same time.

The car fire occurred just around the corner on Martinet Ave shortly after midnight.

Damage is pegged at $10,000.

Police are investigating to see if the two fires are related.

Reports say flames were seen coming from the vehicle and spreading to a residence but that the fire was quickly contained.

Officials had few details on the car fire regarding damages, but it is also being treated as suspicious.
