Charges have been laid against a man and a woman following an incident in Clinton, Ont. on Sunday evening.

Huron County OPP say the incident occurred on Rattenbury Street East around 6:40 p.m.

Officials say an officer was speaking with a resident when he allegedly threatened to cause harm to someone from Central Huron, and when the officer attempted to arrest the male, he resisted.

At that point, police say the man's girlfiend attempted to intervene and kicked the officer in the face causing minor injuries.

A second officer arrived shortly afterward and assisted with the arrest of both suspects.

Norman Hulley, 40, of Clinton, has been charged with uttering threats, resisting an officer and failing to comply with probation.

Melyni Laidlaw, 33, also of Clinton, has been charged with assaulting an officer and failing to comply with probation.

Both are being held in custody pending court appearances later this week.
