A work stoppage order has been issued at a Tillsonburg wind turbine blade manufacturing plant.

The Ministry of Labour ordered the stoppage at Siemens Canada following a workplace accident Monday that sent a male employee to hospital with serious injuries.

“The worker was hooking up a loader to a turbine blade,” said ministry spokesperson Janet Deline.

While the plant is still operational, the work stoppage is related to certain equipment.

An order was also issued to protect workers from the hazard of falling while hooking C clamps.

“We have a Ministry of Labour inspector assigned,” Deline says. "Our investigation is still ongoing."

OPP were also called to the scene about 6:30 a.m. Monday.
