An early morning house fire in Owen Sound has been deemed suspicious.

As of 6:30 a.m. fire fighters were battling the blaze which began around 4:00 a.m. at a two storey house believed to be vacant on in the 900 block of 6th Avenue East.

The building was engulfed in flames when crews arrived. Owen Sound police helped with the removal of vehicles that were blocking fire truck access to the fire.

Though the building is believed to be vacant crews have been unable to confirm  that no one was inside.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office has been called in.

Residents are asked to avoid the area while crews continue to battle the fire.
