It's back into the deep freeze for southern Ontario.

Another surge of cold air invaded the region overnight and Environment Canada has issued extreme cold alerts for areas south of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

The cold temperatures combined with light to moderate northwest winds were forecast to bring wind chill values near -30 C into this morning.

Those venturing outside are reminded to wear clothing appropriate for the weather and dress in layers with a wind resistant outer layer.
