Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for London and its surrounding counties, as temperatures drop and winds pick up.

The weather authority says a big change is coming as Old Man Winter tries to show his face once again. Showers are expected through Monday, with wind gusts up to 85km/h in southwestern Ontario.

An Arctic cold front is expected to hit the region Monday evening, which will drag temperatures down with it.

During this period, Environment Canada says the showers will transition to freezing rain or ice pellets. A few centimetres of snow are expected to fall by end of day Tuesday.

Motorists should be prepared for poor driving conditions for the morning commute.
