Winter is still a little less than two months away, but parts of southern Ontario have received its first snowfall of the season.

A band of wet snow pushed from south of Collingwood towards the Horning’s Mills area on Tuesday morning, causing some isolated whiteouts.

At least one crash is reported to have happened in the Creemore area. It was snowing at the time, and investigators say Simcoe County Road 9 was slippery.

County and township plows were mobilized to clear what snow stuck to area roads.

Salters and sanders were also dispatched.

Most of the snow has melted away, but some white powder could still be seen on roofs late Tuesday morning in the Stayner area.

Environment Canada is forecasting a 40 per cent chance of flurries Tuesday night in Simcoe County and parts of Muskoka.
