Sarnia police were busy confiscating weapons from the streets this past Halloween weekend.

In one incident, a 24-year-old man was wielding a machete as he approached people in a strange manner late Sunday night.

When police arrived on scene, they saw the man run into an apartment in the 200 block of Indian Road. Officers were concerned when there was no answer at the door, but could hear voices inside. They entered the apartment and charged the man with possessing a weapon and breaching his probation.

Early Saturday police also seized a pistol after a man took it upon himself to search for a suspect in the theft of a purse. He approached people in the downtown area and was checking to see if they matched the description of a suspect. Police stopped the 34-year-old man in his vehicle and he faces charges of possessing a weapon and concealing a weapon.

Finally, a 38-year-old female has been charged with possession of a weapon after police found a 14-inch knife in her coat while she was sleeping under a street lamp on Christina Street on Saturday.

She was also charged with two counts of breaching her probation and one count of breaching bail.

There were no injuries in any of these incidents.
