OWEN SOUND, Ont. - Provincial police say the search for a boater missing along the Sauble River outside Owen Sound, Ont., is continuing Tuesday on a "reduced scale.''

OPP are now identifying the boater as 31-year-old Nathan French of Acton, Ont.

Police plan to conduct an aerial sweep of the area using a helicopter on Wednesday, saying the swollen Sauble River may have subsided enough to provide better search capability by that time.

French was out on the river last Thursday in a dingy.

He didn't arrive at a pre-arranged spot to meet his brother that evening and his dingy was found by family on the shores of the river the next morning.

Police are reminding boaters to be careful on swollen and fast-running waterways, and are urging them to always wear personal flotation devices.
