Huron County OPP has found the body of a missing 39 year old man who went into the water to save his son.

Emergency crews were called to the Port Albert Main Beach to assist three swimmers that were in distress in the water.

The missing man went into the water along with another man to rescue the missing man’s seven year old son.

The young boy was struggling in the current at the mouth of the Nine Mile River and Lake Huron.

The boy and one of the rescuers were able to safely make it back to shore; however the boy’s father was overcome by the powerful undertow and failed to return to shore.

The deceased has been identified as Tomasz Gladkowski, 39, of Mississauga.

His body was found around 1:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing.
