Police have laid charges after allegations of a 'serious assault' at a residence on the Saugeen First Nation.
OPP received a call for assistance to a home in the 6400 block of Highway 21 just north of Southampton shortly after midnight, very early Wednesday morning.
Neighbours say the incident was 'a domestic situation' involving a man and his ex-girlfriend, though police are only saying the domestic altercation involved a 41-year-old male and a 40-year-old female.
Police say the home was temporarily cordoned off, but following the execution of a search warrant, the owner was allowed to return to the residence.
A Saugeen First Nation man is facing numerous charges including:
- forcible confinement
- mischief under $5,000
- assault cause bodily harm
- assault with a weapon
- administering noxious substance
- uttering threats to cause death
He appeared in court Wednesday for a bail hearing.
The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact the Bruce Peninsula OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
