The Conseil scolaire catholique Providence has announced new partnerships with two European schools to help improve student and teacher development.

Jean-Paul Gagnier, superintendent of education, said in a statement, “These professional development opportunities will enable our respective teaching institutions to add an international component to the educational programs and services offered to students."

The French-language school board is partnering with the Academie de Lille and Academie de Lyon, as part of a new international program with the goal of more effective teaching and learning.

Staff will be able to exchange ideas on teaching and assessment methods as well as best practices with international colleagues.

In a statement, Joseph Picard, director of education, explained, “In an internationalized learning environment, students will be able to build friendships with classmates from a variety of cultural backgrounds, friendships that will last well beyond their years in school.

"Their interactions will foster inclusiveness and respect for diverse points of view and cultural factors."

The components of the International Program will be rolled out in phases starting in February 2016.
