London police say their investigation into the crash that killed 19-year-old Alex Foto is complete and no charges will be laid.
Foto was killed while after colliding with a cement truck at Wharncliffe Road and Riverside Drive while riding her bicycle on the afternoon of Aug. 7.
The London Police Service Traffic Management Unit says that "after careful analysis of reconstruction data, witness statements, surveillance video and relevant legislation" it has been determined there will be no charges in this case.
Remembering Alex
Hundreds turned out for Foto's funeral in mid-August, where the University of Waterloo student was remembered for devoting her life to helping others, and the city's cycling community also held a memorial ride in her honour a week after her death.
On Wednesday, her former cross-country teammates at Sir Frederick Banting High School dedicated their race to Foto, wearing green ribbons and her initials.
Her mother Pat Foto was at the event and says "I was touched, it meant a lot and would mean a lot to Alex...Everyone has been so incredibly supportive and that's her legacy."
Beckie Wright, the school's cross-country running coach, says "[Alex] was supportive of everyone on the team. It didn't matter if you were in Grade 9 or a senior or finished first or last she was that athlete who supported everybody."
More fundraisers are also scheduled, including a 30-hour Famine, which will continue her support of World Vision.
"We don't want her forgotten," her mother say, "and all the things that she did for other people."
Scholarships are also being developed with the University of Waterloo, Thames Valley District School Board, World Vision and others.
