Grey County OPP say nine people were treated in hospital after a tent collapsed near Hopeville, Ont. on Sunday.

Police responded to Southgate Road 14 around 4:30 p.m. Sunday after reports a large tent had collapsed.

About 100 people were reportedly at a private event southeast of Hopeville when the incident happened, leaving nine people with minor injuries.

Officials say strong wind, rain and hail were passing through the area at the time, and is believed to have been the cause of the collapse.

Emergency crews from Grey County, Dufferin County, Wellington County and Simcoe County assisted at the scene and the Ministry of Labour was notified.
