A two-day crackdown on taxicabs and limousines saw nearly three dozen vehicles taken off the road in London.

According to London police, Project TRIPS was a joint enforcement initiative aimed at improving public safety for users of area cabs and limos.

The blitz examined several areas of concern including emergency lights, leaking exhaust systems, and bald tires.

In total, 33 vehicles were removed for inspection, 42 provincial offence notices were issued, 14 city plates were removed and seven notices of contravention were given.

Local bylaw enforcement also levied several infractions including failure to report mechanical defects and failure to maintain maintenance logs.
