Three emergency services vehicles were among those involved in a multi-vehicle crash on the westbound Highway 402 between Oil Heritage and Mandaumin Roads near Sarnia.

Lambton County OPP, EMS and firefighters from Camlachie and Plympton-Wyoming responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Five people were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including one firefighter.

During the incident, an OPP cruiser diverting traffic off the highway at Oil Heritage Road was struck, but the officer was not injured.

Two responding fire service vehicles also became involved in the multi-vehicle collision that included eight transport trucks.

The investigation is continuing into the collision and motorists are reminded to slow down during the continuing winter weather and to be prepared for changing conditions.

The highway was closed until early Wednesday morning.
