The London Health Sciences Centre has named Murray Glendining as the new president and CEO of the hospital.

Ruthe Anne Conyngham, chair of the Board of Directors at London Health Sciences Centre, made the announcement on Wednesday.

Conyngham said in a statement “Murray was unanimously selected by the Board after a very extensive process to consider all potential options...Murray is ideally suited to guide LHSC through the transformation underway in the sector. The appointment of a new CEO in a complex academic hospital like LHSC can be a disruptive event, so we are tremendously fortunate to have the best candidate for the job already within our leadership team.”

Glendining has been serving as the acting president and CEO.

He joined LHSC in June 2012, previously spending 10 years with the Hamilton Health Sciences Centre, during which time he also worked with the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant LHIN where he led the push for electronic health records within the region.

Glendining is a chartered accountant with extensive experience in the public and private sectors.

He said in a statement "It is a true honour to lead an organization like London Health Sciences Centre...I am highly confident that the talented team at LHSC, working closely with system and community partners, will successfully navigate the challenges ahead and continue to play a leading role contributing to the creation of a more efficient health care system that provides a seamless, high-quality experience for patients.
