NDP leader Tom Mulcair made a swing through southwestern Ontario Sunday in an effort to gain support in the vote-rich area.

The latest poll shows the NDP third in support behind the Liberals and the Conservatives.

Mulcair took part in a rally at the London Convention Centre.

He also made campaign stops in Waterloo, Brantford and Stratford Sunday morning,

As expected Mulcair focussed on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

“Mr Harper has his gang in Atlanta trying to negotiate away your family farm, negotiate away your good paying factory job in the auto sector.

“When we form government on October 19, we’ll not be bound by this secret agreement that Mr Harper has been negotiating. We’ll stand up for you and your families.”

In Stratford he appealed to farmers.

“Did you know here in Perth alone there are 350 dairy farms? We will fight for Canadian families.”

In London, he promised to lift families out of poverty and reduce the Old Age Security pension from 67 to 65.

Mulcair touched on a sore point in the community – the shuttering of Electo-Motive Diesel in 2012 that left 600 out of work. He criticized the federal government's subsidy to the company.

“Electro-Motive Diesel locked out all the workers, took all the jobs with your $5 million.”

Mulcair was also in Sarnia Sunday afternoon.
