A 71-year-old man is facing more sexual assault-related charges after five additional alleged victims were identified, say Huron County OPP.

The ongoing sexual assault investigation dates back to the period from 1971 to 1995.

Eight charges including indecent assault and gross indecency were laid in September and involved allegations from two teenage boys in the late 1970s.

OPP now say the discovery of five more alleged victims, aged 10 to 21, has led to more than 20 additional charges including:

  • Six counts of Indecent Assault
  • One count of Indecent Assault
  • Eight counts of Gross Indecency
  • Two counts of Sexual Assault
  • One count of Sexual Assault
  • Two counts of Forcible Confinement
  • One count of Sexual Exploitation

Martin Cretier allegedly gained access to his victims through work at the Wingham and District Hospital and volunteer work as a leader with the 1st Wingham Scout troop.

The North Huron man has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Wingham in December.
