The father of a four-month-old infant killed in a crash in Elgin County has also died, say OPP.

The collision took place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, northeast of St. Thomas.

OPP say the driver of a pickup truck southbound on Yarmouth Centre road failed to stop at Ron McNeil Line and plowed into the side of an SUV.

Elgin County OPP says that 33-year-old John Tremblett from London has died in hospital due to injuries sustained in the collision. 

He was a passenger in the rear the SUV. His four-month-old son Carstyn Tremblett, also in the rear seat of the SUV, died the day of the crash.

The driver of the SUV, 35-year-old Valerie Hurley of London, remains in serious condition in a local hospital.

Police have charged the driver of the pickup, 68-year-old Robert Duncan from Malahide Township, with:

  • two counts of dangerous driving cause death
  • two counts of criminal negligence causing death
  • dangerous driving cause bodily harm
  • criminal negligence cause bodily harm

He is scheduled to appear at court in St. Thomas on Friday to answer to the charges.
