London police have now charged a 47-year-old man with manslaughter after a woman died last September.

Katherine Adam, 58, was taken to hospital on Sept. 1 with traumatic injuries police say happened from a viscious assault.

Police were called to 241 Simcoe St. about the incident. They arrested William Wayne Feather and charged him with aggravated assault. He has been in custody since that time.

Adam died on Sept. 17 and an investigation by police led to upgraded charges.

It takes time to investigate a major incident such as this one here," says London Const. Ken Steeves. "For determining the cause of death we had to consult with a coroner, the pathologist. We met with the Crown attorney and determined the accused is now going to be charged with manslaughter."

Feather is due to appear in court on Monday.
