Last month's inMotion Community Challenge saw people in the London area log more than 8.3 million minutes of physical activity.

Almost 20,000 people took part in the October initiative to encourage people to get active, nearly double 2014's totals of 11,600 participants logging 4.7 million minutes.

This was the third year for the inMotion challenge, and Mary Lou Albanese, chair of Middlesex-London inMotion, said in a statement the increase shows living healthier is important to the community.

“The success of this event isn’t just that people were active for a month, it’s that they make a big step towards changing the way they think about being active. It’s about making physical activity a regular part of your lifestyle.”

The committee hopes more and more people will continue to stay active long after the challenge is done.
