Environment Canada has released final numbers for December 2014, and London has set a new record low for snowfall.

The city saw just four centimetres of snow in December, compared to a normal expected snowfall of 48 cm. That's just 20 per cent of the snowfall expected for the month.

The previous record low was 14.2 cm of snow, set in December of 1965.

Record lows were also set in Kitchener-Waterloo and Windsor, with the latter seeing only trace amounts of snow.

The trace amounts in Windsor break the record low of 1.3 cm set all the way back in 1943.

Wiarton also had an exceptionally dry December, with 30.9 cm of snow representing the least to fall since 1994, and about 78 cm less than is typical.

London also saw an average temperature of -0.5 C in December, which is 2.1 C higher than the norm, and the warmest it's been since 2012.

When it comes to precipitation, Environment Canada says London saw 30.2 millimetres, compared to the normal 87.5 mm. The previous low was 33.8 mm set in 1960.
