A New Zealand man is facing charges following an investigation by the London police's Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE), formerly the Cyber Crime Unit.

Officers began an Internet luring investigation in May 2013 following complaints from a 16-year-old in London.

Police say she began communicating with an unknown male online and was convinced to share inappropriate images of herself.

The man then allegedly attempted to extort the victim into performing sexually explicit acts online, but she refused to cooperate and contacted police.

Members of the ICE Unit obtained information on the suspect's identity and learned he lived in New Zealand.

Officials there were informed and in November 2014, they executed a search warrant at the home of Keith Jock Wickliffe.

He was arrested and subsequently charged with blackmail offences in New Zealand in relation to the London investigation.

Police there also reportedly identified two additional young female victims, who were both residents of New Zealand.
