Charges are pending following a hit and run collision that sent a woman to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police were called to Florence Street and Highbury at 2:20 a.m. Saturday morning.

A 25 year old female pedestrian was rushed to hospital with multiple skull fractures and life threatening injuries.

She remains in serious but stable condition.

The male driver of the pickup fled the scene, but was arrested a short time later.

He has been identified at Mitchel Sawatsky, 24, of St Catharines.

He has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm, blood alcohol level over the legal limit and failing to remain the scene of an accident

Sawatsky remains in police custody at this time.
