An investigation is underway after an armed man reportedly robbed the Scotiabank branch on Hamilton Road in east London.

Officers were called to the scene just east of Highbury Avenue around 1:50 p.m.

Police say a male walked into the bank brandishing what appeared to be a handgun, and demanded cash.

He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a black pickup truck, though it's unclear what direction the vehicle was headed.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6'1" tall, 200 pounds with a muscular build, wearing grey sweatpants and grey hoodie, white and grey Nike shoes, sunglasses and a black face mask.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the London Police Service.
