Lambton OPP are investigating a fatal vehicle fire on the 402 early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were contacted around 3:15 a.m. to the west bound lanes of the 402 at the Camlachie Road overpass to investigate a motor vehicle fire.

Once on scene, OPP discovered a Freightliner tractor-trailer was engulfed in flames.

One man was able to escape but a passenger was unable to get out of the vehicle.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

OPP will not be releasing the name of the victim until identification is confirmed and next of kin are notified.

The Lambton County OPP Crime Unit, the Regional Fire Marshal and Coroner’s Offices are investigating.

The west bound lanes of the 402 will remain closed between Oil Heritage Road and Mandaumin Road until approximately 4:00 p.m.
