Fire crews were called to a blaze at a daycare just outside of London on Sunday evening.

Middlesex County firefighters responded to the Kilworth Children's Centre on Jeffries Road about 5:30 p.m.

There was heavy smoke in the area as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. The fire was brought under control within an hour.

Damage to the commercial building from the fire is estimated at $500,000 and a cause is stil being investigated.

The building owner's told CTV News that the daycare will be closed Monday, at which time the daycare hopes to have more informatiom for parents regarding how long they will be impacted.

Parent Lesley McLellan said "We've been coming here for eight years...it's going to be difficult in the morning when we can't drop our kids off."
