A woman was taken to hospital this morning following a kitchen fire in a basement apartment.
Fire crews responded to the call just after 4:30 a.m. Monday at 383 Ashland Avenue, just south of Dundas St. and west of Highbury Ave.
Fire officials say there was a fire in the kitchen of a basement apartment within the home. One woman was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
An early estimate of damages is set at $40,000.
A fire inspector will be attending the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
