London police say a 46 year old man is in custody following a stabbing in northeast London Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred in the area of Oakville Avenue and Huron Street near Clarke Road around 8:30 p.m.

Police say the female victim was transported to hospital by EMS where her injuries were determined to be serious, but non-life threatening.

The man is charged with a number of offences.

  • attempt murder
  • 9 counts of breach of probation
  • theft under $5000
  • weapons dangerous
  • break and enter and commit

The major crime unit is continuing to investigate.

Although the investigation is in the beginning stages, police say this incident does not appear to be a random act. 

Due to the nature of the relationship between the victim and the accused, police will not be releasing the name of the individual in custody.
